Indiatimes Shopping was created in 2000 within the Times Group as the opportunity was felt for the first time of selling goods online due to growth of internet usage in the country. For a long time it operated essentially as a marketplace model, much like eBay, with sellers being allowed to sell directly on the website under their name and warranty. However, it has recently made moves towards the stocking mode of operation, with its deal with Nokia [1] [2] [3] and also in some of its traditional categories like Movies, Music and Games. Indiatimes Shopping also has a highly popular and successful business called Reader's Offer which is essentially its print shopping business in partnership with the print arm of BCCL.
